| I'll be the first to admit that I adore VH1. Yes, sometimes stupid, inappropriate, and immature. However, when you get past the unecessary reality TV shows, and get to what the heart of VH1 may very well be, you get something cool. When you start watching things like 100 Greatest Songs of the 90s, I Love the 70s, 80s, 90s and I love the New Millenium, and VH1 Rock Honors..., things start getting good. So, why do I love VH1? Simple, passion. Sounds silly, I know. But if you watch closely VH1 is filled with passion. A passion that derives from music, feeds off music, and celebrates music like no other. A station thats very fibers are drenched in everything that is music. VH1 celebrates the people who've installed music greatness from generation to generation with VH1 Rock Honors. (This year, they happen to be celebrating The Who). It celebrates people who have showed a generation a message that should be carried on forever with VH1 presents...A concert for (who ever it happens to be). (This year, it happens to be Nelson Mandela with the 46664 its in our hands Campiagn). It remembers the sillyness and ingenious of all different things that defined decades through I Love The 70s, 80s, 90s and of course, the brand new I Love the New Millenium. Plus, it launches campaigns thats goals are to try to reach and continuing reaching the world through Music. An International Language. Through VH1's Classic Rock Autism they reach families who have children with Autism and give help and support in any way they can. They have concerts to raise awareness and support to help families, plus educate people on the effects of Autism. The VH1 "Get Up Stand Up" which helped families, victims and survivors of Hurrican Katrina. Which then continuted on to help global disasters and to attempt to be the best relief they can when people need help. The Global Fund & VH1, which tries to help all different things all over the world. It just wants to be a helping hand. And of course, probably the most affective and known campaign, VH1 Save the Music. To keep music in schools, to allow children the opportunity to still sign up for music classes. For some of the greatests, if there wasn't a music class, we wouldn't have had musicians who defined generations; The Who, Pearl Jam, Ozzy, The Beastie Boys, Edwin McCain, The Turtles, The Beatles, Nirvana, U2, Celine Dion, Vanilla Ice, Simple Minds, Heart, Posion, Rise Against, The Foo Fighters, Alice Cooper, man the list goes on and on. Whether they were your favorites or not, it doesn't matter. They still changed the sound, the look, taste, and generation of music. So, critcism me I guess. But I do like VH1. A lot. I find myself watching it a lot during summer. And yes, I admit, its not always the appropriate thing to pick. But, when you get the chance, check it out if you can. You'll find some passion inside the fibers of VH1 I truely believe. |
